Drones at the Track was created by MikeH
I was at Best Buy today and saw some incredible new drones equipped with HD video cameras that would be fantastic to use at the track BUT, I know they have been banned and some weekends considerable time is spent tracking them down. I also understand they will be confiscated when located.
My question is how would a spectator know that they are not allowed. There's nothing on the website under policies and rules. I've never seen any signage at the main gates and I don't believe there's anything on the tickets.
Given that these devices are becoming more popular and, a race track could be the perfect venue to use them, it seems to me that the visitors need to be better informed.
Perhaps I've missed something.

You are 100% correct Mike. No one relay knows about it till they are confronted by Security. I personally would love to get one to just fly around there....not during the racers but at the end of the day or when nothing is happening but I know that is not permitted. BoD needs to chat about this.

We can talk about this issue. As far as I see though this is CTMP ruling from the management team although it is not in writing (on the website). The only thing we could really do is suggest to track management to post or print a clear policy on drones.

I agree it's not the role of MMS to create and enforce track rules, but the drone issue seems a bit unfair to the visitors.

Public safety comes first, anyone with enough cash may buy a drone. There is no skill test involved with owning a drone. The potential for the drone to crash into a car on the track or into spectators is too high of a risk on my mind.

There have been many incidents of drones crashing into spectators at sporting events
